Memo Butler is a private keepsake diary, built around a single principle: your memories are yours, and they never leave your device.
This policy explains how the App handles your information. The App is provided by an independent individual developer ("we", "us"), the party responsible for it, reachable at support@memobutler.com.
What we collect
Nothing. Memo Butler does not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal information on any server. We have no servers. We require no account, no sign-up, no email, and no login. Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to lose, sell, or hand over.
Where your content lives
Everything you write, teach, photograph, or record in Memo Butler — diary entries, the people and things you teach the butler to remember, annotations, and any images — is stored on your own device, inside the app's private storage. The App itself never sends it anywhere: we have no servers, so we never receive or sync your content, and we never share it with any third party.
Your own backups
Like any other app, the content Memo Butler keeps on your device may be included in the backups you choose to make — for example your iCloud backup or an encrypted computer backup. These backups are yours: they live under your own Apple ID, are handled and encrypted by Apple (or stored on your own computer), and are what let your memories return to you when you set up a new device. Apple acts here as your backup provider — not ours; we never have access to your backups and never receive their contents. You can turn Memo Butler's inclusion in iCloud Backup on or off at any time in your device's Settings, under your Apple ID → iCloud. If you delete the App, its content is removed from your device; any copy in your own backups stays under your control until you remove it there.
How your content is kept safe
Your content sits inside the App's private storage on your device, protected by your device's own security — such as your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and the operating system's encryption. Because we never receive your content, we hold no keys and no copies. Keeping your own device backups (see above) is the surest way to protect against a lost or damaged device.
No tracking, no analytics, no advertising
Memo Butler contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising, no tracking pixels, and makes no network calls to us for any purpose. It works fully offline. Any crash or diagnostic reports are handled by Apple at the operating-system level and only if you have opted in through your device settings; those go to Apple, not to us, under Apple's own privacy terms.
Purchases
Subscriptions and the lifetime membership are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple provides us only anonymous, aggregate purchase information through App Store Connect. Your use of the App Store is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Camera and photos
If you choose to add a photo to a memory, the app accesses your camera or photo library only at that moment, and only with your permission. The resulting image is stored on your device as part of your diary. It is never sent anywhere.
Your rights and choices
You are always in full control of your content on your device: you can view, edit, or delete any of it, and removing the App erases it entirely. Because we do not collect or hold any personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf. For residents of regions such as the European Economic Area and United Kingdom (GDPR) and California (CCPA/CPRA): we do not collect, process, sell, or share personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
Children
Memo Butler is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
